Still in The Storm

The farm had been bustling with activity for days, people and horses moving about never stopping. Everyone was tired. Anne and Jesse were fighting. Andrew was yelling at everyone, Jake was fighting with Jesse every chance he got. The only one who kept their wits about them was Willow. Then one evening at dinner when everyone was yelling she announced a Holiday.
“Guys! I’ve decided we all need a break. This weekend, no shows, no practice, and put all the horses out to pasture, everyone including the horses need a rest.” The silenced everyone instantly and smiles broke out.
The next morning all the horses were turned out to pasture. Many started rolling in the dirt; foals were playing and running around. Stallions were play fighting with friends and racing. Mares were grazing calmly. Jesse and Anne stopped fighting and instead went to visit Jesse’s parents for the weekend. Jake also went to see his family. Andrew slept in, but Willow was up early. It was around 6am and there was light rain falling on the stables. Everything was still. Willow put on rain gear and headed out. She stopped at each pasture checking horses, and she watched as they rested in the rain letting it wash away the stresses. She was almost done when she came to a very special pasture. Willow had decided to let the Nordanners use one of the older pastures off by its self for some father/son bonding. Willow went to that pasture last. She stopped and looked down the hill. She could see them Devil standing proud looking off into the distance, a strong leader, and his son standing before him copying him. Willow smiled yes this was perfect. A stillness that only comes with a storm.
